Bauchi state government has expressed satisfaction with the level of support from working journalists in the state.

The Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the state governor, Comrade Muktar Gidado gave the commendation when he declared open a two day workshop organized by the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, held at Yankari Game Reserve.

Comrade Muktar Gidado said journalism is faced with numerous challenges that include misinformation due to the emergence of the new media.

He called on journalists to stop the trend through their professional reportage.

In his welcome address, the chairman of the correspondents chapel Malam Ahmed Muhammad, called on members of the chapel to be conversant with the changing trend in the profession.

He however frowned at the way most journalists copy their colleagues stories, warning that the chapel will commence the monitoring of members work for effective output.

In a goodwill message, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, pledged to support any willing to engage in the training and re-training of their members.

In his presentations, the resource person at the occasion Dr Andy Iheme who spoke on investigative journalism and the impact of Artificial intelligence on Journalism advised the participants to be conversant with the new trend.

In a paper titled Mass Tourism, Relationship with the Media, the Managing Director of Bauchi state Tourism Development Corporation Dr Muhammad Nasir Yusuf, disclosed plans by the corporation to partner a South African firm to develop the sector in the state.

Dr Nasir said plans are underway to construct a rail line from Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport to Sumu Wild life Park to ease access to the park.
