Bauchi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has held an end of the year meeting with former chairmen of the council.
The meeting, presided over by the chairman of the council Comrade Umar Sa’idu, was attended by six former chairmen under the auspices of NUJ Elders Advisory Council, discussed vital issues relating to the activities of the council in 2024.
Addressing the participants, the chairman of the council Comrade Umar Sa’idu disclosed that the union has during the period under review, conducted series of activities aimed at improving the well-being of members.
Some of the services rendered include training and re-training of members, health support, and the recommendations given to the state government on improving the status of the state-owned media houses.
Comrade Umar Sa’idu said the council has constituted five different committees for easy management of the union.
According to him, the council is embarking on the diversification of its revenue sources by collaborating with the Bauchi State Investment Corporation to construct lock-up shops at the press center.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Elders Advisory Council Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Shall, commended the leadership style of the council chairman and called on him to maintain the spirit.
