Over two hundred elderly less privileged people in Bauchi state have benefited from the second edition of the renewed hope initiative of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The program is designed to support the welfare of elderly citizens annually in all parts of the country.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu was represented by Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad, Wife of the Bauchi state Governor, who said the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope initiative has decided to increase the number of beneficiaries of the grant from One Hundred to two Hundred this year to provide further support to the elderly citizens during this festive season.

She announced the total of one billion Nine Hundred Naira to be disbursed across the Nation, while the coordinators of the NGOs in charge of the disbursement exercise in the thirty-six states of the Federation have received fifty Million Naira each.

The First Lady called on the beneficiaries to use the grand judiciously.

In a welcome address, the state commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko, said the program could not have come at a better time than now, considering the hardship being experienced by the less privileged.

Hajiya Zainab commended the First Lady’s efforts in assisting the less privileged in society.

Also, in their separate remarks, the PDP Zonal Coordinator Hajiya Hadiza Abdullahi and APC Women Leader Hajiya Murja Barrisiyya commended the First Lady’s efforts, which, according to them, will go a long way in alleviating the hardship experienced by less privileged in the society.
