ECOWAS, Commission Rounds up its Emergency Flood Response Project in Bauchi State.

The Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS has flagged off it Grand Finale of the ECOWAS Flood Response Project in Bauchi State with Kirfi local government area as the last beneficiary amongst the most hit by the 2024 flood disaster in the State.
Flagging off the distribution held at Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu square government house Bauchi the permanent mission of Nigeria to ECOWAS Dr. Victory Jaja and the Director ECOWAS commission Dr. Sintiki, commiserates with the victims of the 2024 flood disaster in Kirfi Local government area and the State at large.
Dr. Victory Jaja hinted the importance of collaborative effort in assisting victims of any kind of disaster with the sole aim of serving humanity.
In his remark representative the State minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Valentine Ozufo, Highlighted the federal government commitment to providing succor to flood victims across Nigeria and commended ECOWAS, the National Red Cross Society for their contributions to the Nigerian Community.
Speaking at the event the State Governor Bala Mohammed who was represented by the Secretary to the state Government Honorable Aminu Hammayo applauded ECOWAS and it’s partners for their interventions in Bauchi State.
Governor Bala Mohammed explained that considering the incisant rainfall during the 2024 rainy season in the State many communities where ravaged by flood hence the need for more assistance to complement the state Government effort in providing assistance and reduce the hardship faced by the victims.
Earlier in her remark the State Commissioner for disaster management Hon. Hajara Yakubu Wanka explained that the state Government has since began distribution of flood relief materials to victims affected by flood in across the State.
She urged the beneficiaries of the project to make best use of the items distributed.
Items distributed include 25 kilograms of rice, 15 kilograms of beans, 15 kilograms of garri 5 litres of vegetable oil and 5 litres of palm oil and a donation of Seventy five thousand Naira to each beneficiary.
